Save, update, and compare scenarios
Manage named funding and exit scenarios, understand replacement by name, and distinguish saved model inputs from historical results.

Understand what a scenario saves
| Model | Saved values |
|---|---|
| Round modeling | Round name, pre-money valuation, new investment, and post-round option-pool target. |
| Exit scenarios | Scenario name, exit value, treatment of unvested awards, and the change-of-control assumption. |
A saved scenario stores inputs and uses the company records when the model runs. It is not a frozen copy of the cap table, a saved set of signed transaction documents, or a dated valuation report. Later grants, conversions, reserve changes, or corrected class terms can change its results.
Create a distinct case
- Open Round modeling or Exit scenarios and enter the assumptions.
- Use a descriptive name such as
Series A - 20m pre-moneyorExit - 40m - unvested cancelled. - Resolve input warnings and choose Save scenario.
- Select the saved name above the model to load it again and verify the inputs.
To keep two cases, give them different names. Save matches names without distinguishing upper and lower case within that model’s scenario list. Saving Series A when series a exists updates that existing scenario.
Update or compare an existing case
Select a saved name to load its inputs. Change the assumptions and keep the same name to update that case. Change the name before saving when you want to retain the original as a separate case.
Compare cases by loading each and recording its assumptions and outputs against the same company dataset. For funding, inspect price, conversions, pool increase, and holder dilution. For exits, inspect note repayments, preference elections, award assumptions, and holder proceeds.
Global search can open a saved round or exit directly. Check the loaded inputs after following the result, particularly the unvested-award and change-of-control settings for an exit.
Delete a scenario or retain review evidence
Use the delete control beside a saved name and confirm. The resulting notification offers Undo, subject to the current company and data still allowing it. Deleting a saved scenario removes its saved assumptions; it does not reverse a round that has already been applied to the cap table.
A company JSON backup includes its saved round and exit scenarios. Keep the reviewed assumptions and results separately when you need to reproduce what a model showed before later company changes. Use Close a funding round only when you intend to create company records from a reviewed financing.
