Understand dates, number entry, and share units
Enter numeric values consistently, distinguish effective and recorded dates, and reconcile rounding and pre-split share units across reports.

Enter numbers in the supported format
Use plain decimal notation with a period for the decimal separator. Commas can group thousands: 1,250.50 and 1250.50 represent the same amount. The app does not interpret decimal-comma notation such as 1.250,50 or exponent notation such as 1e3 as ordinary numeric input.
Share and award quantities must be whole numbers where the form requires them. Prices can contain decimal places. In a percentage field, enter 20 for 20%, not 0.20. A percentage input is different from a fraction stored in an exported JSON record.
Check the field’s meaning before leaving it blank: an empty convertible cap means uncapped, but a missing required quantity is invalid. A display rounding a small price is not a reason to replace its stored precision.
Distinguish the dates used by each view

Use explicit dates in CSV files, such as 2026-09-09. The app’s today-based views use the current local calendar date. Read the label on the individual date control instead of assuming every date filter has the same meaning.
Enter backdated records in today’s share units
After a recorded split, the app stores counts and per-share amounts in current units. When backfilling an earlier security or valuation, follow the form’s warning and compare the historical equivalent with the source document.
For example, after a 2-for-1 split, an original certificate for 100 shares at $4 per share is entered as 200 shares at $2 in current units. A snapshot before the split reads it as 100 shares at $4. Entering the original 100 again in a current-unit field would understate that holding.
Principal amounts on SAFEs and notes are monetary balances, not share quantities. Do not multiply those balances by the stock-split factor.
Reconcile whole shares and displayed percentages
Printed percentages can be rounded even when calculations use a more precise ratio. Three equal holders can each display 33.33%, which adds to 99.99% on paper. Reconcile the share counts and denominator before changing any record to force the printed percentages to total 100%.
Stock splits and funding closes can turn intermediate fractions into whole-share records. Inspect their previews for the final quantities and any rounding effects. Do not assume that rounded certificate totals exactly equal an intermediate spreadsheet result.
When investigating a difference, align the company, effective date, ownership basis, pool setting, currency, and split units first. Then compare record quantities and linked events.
