Maintain your records

Attach, open, and retain supporting documents

Upload documents to securities and valuations, understand immediate attachment saves, and distinguish retained files from backup references.

Attach a document to a saved record

Save the security first, then open its edit form and find Attachments. For a valuation, open Settings and use the attachment action beside its valuation entry.

  1. Choose Attach file and select the supporting PDF or image.
  2. Wait for the attachment-added confirmation. The upload button reads Attaching while the upload is running.
  3. Check the filename, size, and added date in the list.
  4. Open the filename and verify the document.

A single attachment can be up to 25 MiB. A document larger than that is refused before upload.

Treat attachment changes as separate saves

Uploading and removing attachments apply immediately. They do not wait for the security form’s Save changes button. Closing that form does not discard an attachment operation that already completed.

If you uploaded the wrong file, use its Remove action and read the confirmation. Correcting an unsaved price field or closing the form will not remove the uploaded document.

Open or download a stored file

PDFs and supported raster images open in a new browser tab. If the app asks you to allow pop-ups, allow them for this site and select the file again. Other file types download instead of being displayed inline.

If a file cannot be opened, check your connection, Puter account, and whether the backing file still exists. A filename in a record is a reference to a file, not proof that its contents remain available.

Understand removal and record deletion

Removing an attachment removes its reference and deletes the backing file unless another company or restore point still names it. Read the confirmation before removing a document you intend to retain.

Deleting a record with attachments offers a choice to keep files or delete files too. Keeping a file does not leave the deleted record visible in the app. Undoing record deletion does not recreate a backing file that has been removed. A valuation deletion has no record Undo action.

Keep file contents with a portable backup

A company JSON backup contains attachment references and a manifest, not the document contents. Restore points also refer to cloud files rather than embedding complete copies of them.

Retain the underlying documents separately when making an independent archive or moving records between accounts. Open the files after a restore or import to verify access. A backup downloaded earlier does not by itself prevent a later cleanup operation from deleting a cloud file.
